Four days into the new year and I'm still writing 2006.
Though I'm very glad the holiday season is over. I probably gained a stone with all the holiday foods, and now I'm just itching to get back to a regular practice schedule.

On behalf of Hestia's Hearth, I would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who came to the carnival this Saturday. We raised a lot of money, and it certainly looked as though everyone was having fun! We may have to make the carnival part a regular addition to our holiday fundraiser. Especially with our big fancy gala every February, it's nice to have something that's a little less fancy and a little more family-friendly. If anyone who attended the carnival would like to provide any input on something they particularly enjoyed, or didn't enjoy, we would appreciate your feedback, so that if we continue with the carnival next year, we know what changes to make.

On behalf of Hestia's Hearth, I'd like to extend our thanks to the Montrose Magpies for benefitting our organisation with their annual New Year's Celebration. I always knew those Montrose blokes and ladies were of the good sort.
And, of course, Hestia's Hearth's own fundraising party is coming up this weekend! I hope to see everybody at the carnival and party on Saturday.

I'm glad to see so many people talking about the Hestia's Hearth party on the journals. We really appreciate all of your support. The party will be plenty of fun, and the proceeds will go towards our current major project of opening up a soup kitchen.
I never quite know what to do with myself in the off-season. At least this year we'll get to play in pre-season, but I still feel a bit at loose ends.

I can't believe it's already mid-November. It's going to be time for Hestia's Hearth's annual holiday party before we know it. I know it's always been called the holiday gala before, but we decided that holiday party just sounds more festive, and that's what we're going for this year. And that's the only hint you'll be getting now, formal information goes out next week.
Congratulations to Puddlemere for winning the championship last weekend. Though I have to admit, I was rooting for the Magpies. Hard to believe the season just ended and it's already almost time for preseason again. And all I can say is, I hope we do better next season.

Georgie Porgie, that Haunted House of yours is absolutely bril. I'm having way too much fun terrifying people and dragging them out of your maze. You think you could make this a year-long thing and give me a permanent job doing this?

Warded Private, but George can read.
Malina's already talking to me about the holiday gala for early December. She wants to know if I have any ideas for something to top the all-stars auction from the Starlight Gala last February. I don't know, I've always just been the public voice for the organisation, but it suddenly feels like she's giving me a lot of extra work to do. A lot of the things she's always done. Not that I'm complaining, I'm just ... curious.
At least it gives me something to do since we're in the off season now and not practicing every day.
Oi, O Captain My Captain, sorry I haven't said anything sooner, Malina's running me ragged at Hestia's Hearth, but great job at the game last weekend (and great job to the rest of you Magpies, too, I suppose). Always knew you had it in ya, Cap'n.

[24 Aug 2011|05:33pm] |
Nearly a month left until our last two matches of the season, which at least are back-to-back. I can hardly believe the season will be over in just over a month. It still feels like yesterday that we started. And yet it feels like it's been forever since we were number one. Oh Captain my Captain, I fully expect to see the Magpies as league champs this year, don't let me down. Meanwhile, I just hope the Harpies don't finish last.
Of course, Malina is already talking about all sorts of new events and things she's planning on utilising me for, once the season's over and she doesn't have to schedule things for me around my practices and matches. She's talking about a trip somewhere to build houses. Which should be fun, and a nice way to spend the off-season because it doesn't require me to wear heels. So everyone should expect to hear more from Hestia's Hearth soon, apparently big plans are in the works.

I want a pet.
Katie: thoughts on a pet in the flat? I'm thinking something adorable and cuddly with a twitchy nose and a cotton-ball tail and long ears. This may or may not be because I walked past a pet store today and saw a bunch of bunnies in the window, twitching their cute little noses at passersby. Their little twitchy noses were practically begging "please take me home! I'm adorable and cute and fluffy and cuddly and you're going to love me forever."

A teammate of mine, you probably don't know her or her fiancé or anything, is getting married this weekend. You're my date to her wedding.

[16 May 2011|01:10pm] |
Warded Private.
My head hurts. I've been spending so much time at the Hestia's Hearth offices since Saturday, just throwing myself into that to take my mind off everything else.
I don't know what the hell is happening to us. We did so amazingly last season, we won last season. We were the league champs. We haven't had any change in the line-up, except for Ella being benched after that stupid fight she had with Orla, what the hell happened with them? so how did we suddenly plummet so horribly? We're ranked last. And I swear to Merlin, I want to punch that smug little Abercrombie prat's smirk off his stupid fat face. That stupid passive-aggressive comment and drawing of his was completely un-sportsmanlike, and everything he says just comes across so bloody condescending. Hell, he sounds like just about every single one of my exes. He'd probably be my type if he was older. And Katie and Ang are teammates with him, and he's managed to make my friendly rivalry with my two best friends suddenly feel strained.
And George. Our -- relationship. It shouldn't be causing me so much stress. But I swear, I don't know what I'm doing with him. He's too ... perfect. I keep waiting for him to turn into the same kind of asshole that I've always dated. But all he's done so far was say those three stupid words. It's been two weeks, but I can still hear him saying it. I love you. I know it was just post-shag stupidity I hope but
Too much headache. I hope this idea Ella's working on is something brilliant that can help take my mind off everything.
I think my favourite part of volunteering with Hestia's Hearth is seeing the relief on the families' faces as we help them out. I helped cook dinner last night for a family whose mother is in the hospital with a bad case of scrofungulus. Four little kids who miss their mum and a frazzled dad who's working overtime, it was wonderful to just help take one thing off the dad's mind.

Good game yesterday, Cannons.
Warded to Harpies.
Is this what hell feels like? Losing to the CANNONS and being ranked THIRTEENTH?
Warded to Katie & Ang.
I need a lot of alcohol or a lot of chocolate or a beater's bat and something to hit with it, or some combination of all three.

| 009. 25 April, 2006 |
[25 Apr 2011|05:42pm] |
I hope everyone had a fun Easter. I got to spend yesterday watching my brother twitch over the fact that the name of the holiday starts with two vowels.
Warded to Katie, Orla, Ella, & Bri.
I have a weird question.
Warded to Harpies.
Okay, after this weekend, we're in eleventh. We have got to get it together before we play the Cannons on Saturday.

HELL YEAH. NOW THAT WAS A GAME.
ORLA, HAVE I TOLD YOU RECENTLY THAT I LOVE YOU? AND ELLA AND GINNY AND BRI, I SUPPOSE I LOVE YOU LOT, TOO.

Even though his birthday is actually tomorrow, even if only apparently by a few hours, today is ACTUALLY my brother's day. Patrick, of the two of us, you're probably the more saint-like, with that whole healing-the-sick thing. Everyone, enjoy my brother's day by drinking green beer!

| 006. 1 March, 2006 |
[01 Mar 2011|04:28pm] |
Warded to Verity, Charlotte, Orla, Ella, Ginny, Bri.
Okay, it's been a few days since the gala now and I still am convinced that I was just imagining that George bid six hundred galleons for a date with me.
I was just imagining that, wasn't I?
Warded to George.
Six hundred galleons? Why did you-
I mean, I love that you were so enthusiastic to help out the charity with such a big donation, but--
You paid six hundred galleons for a date with me. No pressure, right?
Uh. Hi.
Well, it certainly seems like everybody had fun at the gala on Saturday! Hestia's Hearth raised well over 10,000 galleons, between tickets, the auctions, and cash donations made at the gala. We are going to be able to help so many people with that money, and it is all thanks to you. So, on behalf of Hestia's Hearth, I am extending our deepest thanks to everyone who attended the gala, bid on an auction item (or a quidditch star!), or donated goods or services to the silent auction. And, of course, anyone who made cash donations (which we do accept year-round, not just at the gala).
In other news, I find it horribly unfair that the Harpies have to wait until the 12th for our first match. First we didn't get to play in preseason (of course, the reason for not playing in preseason is because we just plain rock!), and then we don't even get to play opening weekend. The All-Star game only made me itch to get back out onto the pitch in a match even more.

| 005. 19 February, 2006 |
[19 Feb 2011|05:19pm] |
Now that is how you play Quidditch! Orla, you know we love you!! Now I can't wait until the start of the season! First match for us: March 12th, against the Wanderers. Might as well make your bets now: Harpies for League Champions for the second year in a row!
And speaking of upcoming events, Hestia's Hearth's Starlight Gala is only a week away now! All the amazing Quidditch All-Stars you saw today will be patched up and up for bid in our date auction.
Warded to Harpies minus Orla.
I think, considering that Orla's pirate is out at sea and might not be back to bid on her, we should team up to bid on her on his behalf. Or just for ourselves. Our very own Orla! At the very least, we need to make sure that somebody we know and trust wins her, so this psycho stalker of hers can't.
Warded to Oliver.
How's the arm? I've missed playing with you, O Captain My Captain!

Warded to Verity Weller, Charlotte Spinks, Ella Montgomery, Orla Quirke, & Ginny Weasley.
It was George.
My secret admirer was George.
Warded to Verity.
You knew, didn't you? He told you or something and that's why you suddenly changed your mind about whether or not my admirer was a creepy stalker.

| 003. 9 February, 2006 |
[09 Feb 2011|01:48am] |
Warded PRIVATE.
"An admirer"? A very generous admirer, Merlin this is a gorgeous dress. And the earrings and ring, too. And dinner, too.
And either he made a guess on the pink since it's Valentine's Day, or he knows it's my favourite colour. Which isn't too surprising, I guess, I mean I know it's come up in interviews here and there. But if he can look through hundreds of interviews and find the ones where I've said that pink is my favourite colour, does that mean he's more of a stalker than an admirer?
Unless Verity put someone up to it because I was talking about not having dated anyone since New Year's and then she wouldn't have to feel guilty about going for drinks with Kirke, not that I'd make her feel guilty for that!
Oh Merlin. I need my girls for this.
Warded to Verity Weller, Katie Bell, Charlotte Spinks, Ella Montgomery, Orla Quirke, & Ginny Weasley.
HELP.

| 002. 8 February, 2006 |
[08 Feb 2011|03:05pm] |
Well, I had a fun weekend in Hogsmeade. In case you've been living under a rock, Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes opened a new shop there this weekend, and the crowds were insane. George, please let us know you're still alive and haven't been trampled to death in that crowd this weekend!
In other exciting news, we at Hestia's Hearth would like to remind everyone of our Starlight Gala, coming up on the 26th. We'll have our silent auction as usual, and we'd like to thank everyone who has already donated goods or services for it. But even more exciting than that is our first ever DATE AUCTION. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, just one week after the exciting All Stars match, you will have the rare opportunity to bid on a date with the All Star of your choice! It might even make up for not having a Valentine's Day date, like me
